The ADOT SR-264 Cross Canyon to Summit project involved widening and overlaying a 6.8 mile long segment of State Route 264 from Cross Canyon to Summit within Apache County. The project lies just outside the Navajo Nation capital city of Window Rock and about 20 miles east of the town of Ganado. The project enhanced the safety of the heavily traveled corridor by providing traffic a shoulder, eliminating steep shoulder drop offs, installing cattle guards, extending nearly two dozen pipe runs and replacing the fencing for the entire length of the project. Additionally, Sunland also overlaid the existing pavement, placed a new asphaltic concrete friction course and installed centerline and edge line rumble strip. The project was completed ahead of the allowed schedule of 230 calendar days.
